David de Vries - Guitar

David de Vries began playing piano at the age of seven and later took up the guitar at fourteen. He enrolled at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2004 and was awarded the Mary Patricia Bell Grant for achieving the highest audition mark in that year.

At the Conservatorium David studied with some of Sydney's finest musicians, such as Mike Nock, Judy Bailey, Craig Scott, Matt McMahon, Bill Motzing and Steve Brien. At the Conservatorium David refined his skills as an instrumentalist and composer and in 2007 graduated with first class honours, studying compositions by Jimmy Giuffre in his final thesis. In that same year he also competed in the finals of the prestigious Wangaratta Jazz Competition.

David has performed at some of Sydney's finest venues including The Basement, The Seymore Centre, The Opera House, Soup Plus, The Westin Hotel, The Intercontinental and The Park Hyatt. He has also worked with some of Australia's most respected musicians and groups such as James Morrison, Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra, Judy Bailey, Craig Scott, Jonathan Zwartz, and Virna Sanzone.
